Obesity and Diabetes

The dangerousness of obesity lies in the severity of its complications, not only the patient suffers from excess weight, but also suffers from other diseases caused by obesity.

Are the complications of obesity so serious?

Yes, complications of obesity are one of the most serious complications for the patient's life. Obesity is able to disrupt a patient's life either through the difficulty of movement as an obvious or primary symptom or through a life-threatening disease such as cancer, heart disease or type 2 diabetes, which we will discuss now.

Dear reader, you should be fully aware of the complications of type 2 diabetes caused by high blood glucose, such as peripheral neuritis, retinal detachment and sometimes coma.

Why does an obese person develop type 2 diabetes?

The heavier a person's weight, the more likely that person to develop type 2 diabetes.
Obesity causes diabetes by two routes:
1- Direct route.
2- Indirect route

The direct route of developing type 2 diabetes due to obesity:

Diabetes is caused by insulin resistance, which caused by many factors.
As a first factor, insulin resistance may occur because weight gain causes the inner membrane lining the cells to send signals to desensitize the insulin receptors of the cells of the body, leading to high blood sugar, which in turn leads to type 2 diabetes.
As a second factor, insulin resistance may occur by secreting the Resistin hormone that is excreted from fat cells due to a person's weight gain, where the secretion of Resistin leads to increased insulin resistance in liver cells.
As a third factor, insulin resistance may also occur due to the accumulation of fat in the waist area, which leads to a change in the metabolic rate that stimulates the secretion of fat molecules in the body and thus insulin resistance.

The indirect route of developing type 2 diabetes due to obesity:

Type 2 diabetes occurs through high blood pressure and increased triglycerides. High blood pressure indirectly causes insulin resistance and therefore type 2 diabetes, which also causes triglycerides to rise.
It is worth mentioning that the beta cells in the pancreas monitor the blood glucose rate so that they can secrete insulin if necessary to maintain a healthy blood glucose rate. Beta cells use the enzyme Gnt-4a, which helps to absorb glucose and monitor its blood rate, but while the rate of triglycerides increases in blood, Gnt-4a secretion is reduced significantly, which causes type 2 diabetes.

Getting rid of obesity dear reader is the most appropriate solution for the prevention of type 2 diabetes, diabetes is a health and life obstacle that you don't need.
